Waste Analysis and Characterization Study for Makassar City, Indonesia

About this Project
Makassar, Indonesia

End-of-Pipe (EOP) Multi-Stream WACS and Physicochemical Assessment: A two-phase WACS program was conducted at the landfill to establish and refine the baseline for a large-scale material recovery and recycling facility. The first phase followed SNI 3964:1995, covering waste sampling, sorting into 30 categories, and laboratory testing (moisture, calorific value) to quantify generation rates and recovery potential. The second phase updated the baseline and assessed suitability for MBT biodrying through specialized sampling, 21-day biodrying trials, and advanced testing (moisture, calorimetry, and proximate analysis). The results strengthened key process-design parameters for the South Sulawesi facility.
