River waste sorting set-up

An organisation that is collection waste from a river in Guatemala is looking for solutions to sort and valorise this waste. But river waste is a difficult stream to sort, as the waste is mixed and entangled with organic waste, sand and stones. In a ‘Minimum Viable Product’ sorting setup, SweepSmart is implementing an improved sorting lay-out, including testing ways to support the manual sorting with a shaking sieve.

What's great about it? 

• Pioneering solutions to improve and mechanise river waste sorting at a small scale with minimum investments
• The learnings of the MVP can be incorporated into a large-scale sorting set-up to sort the majority of the waste removed from the river.
